Safeguarding Children’s Welfare: Effective Interventions for Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Cases

This program equips participants with a grounded and practical understanding of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) in today’s digital environment by examining its definition and common forms, including grooming, live-streamed abuse, coercion, and child sexual abuse or exploitation materials (CSAEM). It also strengthens participants’ legal literacy through a review of the basic rights of the child under the UNCRC and key Philippine laws such as RA 11930 and RA 11862, enabling them to situate child protection within clear legal and policy frameworks. Beyond awareness, the program develops participants’ capacity to recognize early physical and behavioral signs, identify red flags using child-sensitive and non-harmful approaches, and respond appropriately through internal and external referral pathways, coordinated intervention, and aftercare. By covering the roles of social workers, schools, and parents in case management and protection, this learning experience is vital in helping participants become more informed, vigilant, and responsive stakeholders in safeguarding children from abuse and exploitation.
